  Call your state representative and support house bill 68 in the Louisiana legislature.That gets rid of the permit requirement for concealed handguns in Louisiana. I came in today to the LSPHQ to get fingerprinted and turn in my concealed handgun permit application. It wasn't even 3 o'clock and they had a sign up saying they were closed. I don't see anywhere where their hours of service is posted. Every time I deal with these people it's a hassle. Also, what good is a background check when I already own the firearms? This is just a permit to conceal them. Keep paying them taxes!

  To start, You're going to wait 1-2 hours to get fingerprinted. This is not a function of how the LSP operates, but instead the amount of people who are there to do the same thing. I showed up around 11am knowing that I'd be there for a solid hour and a half. I got number 7 they were calling number 115 when I got there. I think 150 or so was what the numbers went up to. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I honestly did not expect this. The people who were waiting on the other hand were not so friendly. The office has signs posted EVERYWHERE on where you need to go and what you need to do. Every single person who walked through the door went straight for receptionist (who was answering the phones) to ask where to go. I got frustrated for her. While waiting everyone seemed to complain about how terrible the service was, but neglected the fact that there were literally hundreds of people there in front of them doing the exact same thing. Once your number gets called they bring you back to a separate office and print you. It takes about 5 minutes total. Even that person was helpful and friendly. Go into this knowing it's going to take a while and there is nothing you or the staff can do about it. show up early, bring a book, and maybe a snack.

  The lines are out the door, they call names and numbers very low and expect you to hear it on the first call during the process of other people talking, if you don't hear it you will be put to the back of the line, some employees are understanding while most are very rude...very bad experience here!!
